You think it’s safe to use compound? Or maybe Ultimate Polish? I even got some Meguiar’s #7 hoping to bring the color back. That stuff looks beautiful.

Random orbitals are only good for applying wax as they tend to be pretty slow and weak. If you can, try to invest in a dual action polisher with variable speed. It can be pricy but its well worth it.

I tried one application and maybe 6 passes vertical and horizontal with overlapping lines using Scratch X and the spot seems to have gotten bigger. I also see paint on my Lake Country orange pad. I haven’t seen any paint on pads til now. I used Scratch X instead of Ultimate Compound since it’s less abrasive. This has to have gone through the clear coat. I linked to new pictures. Hoping they get added to my post.

You have burned through the clear if you are getting paint on the pad. You will need to repaint the panel to fix it. Do not polish that area anymore as it will get larger the more the clear is abraded away. Take it as a lesson learned.

No. I can’t afford to have it painted right now. It’s killing me looking at both light spots on my hood every time I see my car. Since clear coat is gone I’ve just done my best to add protection until I can have it painted. I wish there was a cheaper fix even if it didn’t get it to 100%.
