  • Headlight Restoration

    Hi all,

My 2017 Subaru Legacy's headlamps UV coat is starting to peel on the top of them. What is the best way to tackle this? I really don't want to have to spend a fortune replacing the headlamps, so if there is an easy way to remedy this that would be great!

I guess my question is, will the Meguiar's kit do the trick? I am nervous about sanding the headlight. Has anyone else done this with success? Which Meguiars kit would you recommend for this application?

    Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Re: Headlight Restoration

Little hard to zoom on the pic, but it doesnt look too bad.

Really I would just use a paint cleaner like the Ult Compound to work on the area and take the loose stuff off, then just wax the headlights, or use the headlight coating.

No need to take a coating off the whole light for one spot.... Just clean and wax as you do the paint usually...

I agree with Murr, if you only have a little degradation on the top edge of the light, use PlasticX or another compound polish to clean it up. Then, keep a sealant on it! Regularly! In a year you might have to do it again but you can prevent it from getting too bad.

I would agree with the previous recommendations also.
