  • Maintaining repainted car and which wax to use?

Hi guys, so I just got my 7 year old car repainted about 2 months ago and I'm looking to take a good care and maintain the paint job. My car has a solid white paint job on it. I'm planning to polish using the Meguiar's Ultimate Polish and then wax using Meguiar's Ultimate wax but I'm not sure if compounding is needed. When or how would I know if the paint job needs Meguiar's Ultimate Compound to be added into the steps which I'm planning to follow.

Another thing I'm confused about is regarding which wax should I use. I can't seem to make a choice between these 4 waxes which are,

    • Meguiar's hybrid ceramic wax
    • Meguiar's hybrid ceramic liquid wax
    • Meguiar's ultimate wax
    • Meguiar's 3 in 1 wax

Can someone please advice me which will be the best bet? Also I live in Malaysia and it rains pretty frequently.

You will know if you need the compound, if Ultimate Polish isn't removing enough of the paint defects.

For a rainy climate, consider the Hybrid Ceramic range.

So I don't need to use the Ultimate liquid wax? Also if I were to use the Meguiar's 3 in 1 wax, do I still need to use the Ultimate Polish first as the 3 in 1 says clean polish and protect. Please help me out with all this confusions, Thanks a lot!

You normally will not need to use a polish before using the 3 In 1 wax (clean, polish, wax).
You may decide to put Ultimate Liquid Wax on afterward for a slightly longer lasting top coat.
One big advantage of the 3 in 1, is that the wax will provide some protection if you need to spread the task over several different days.

However, since this is a repaint and we don't know the condition of the paint, it is hard to say if it will not benefit from a full DA polish.
