So I have the typical gritty paint after washing. I have a clay bar that I've used with quick detailer or hybrid ceramic detailer spray. It does get the paint smooth as a baby's butt but it takes forever. After several hours I managed to clean the bumper. There has got to be a better way. I also have a 10 inch buffer/polisher and something called paint cleaner, an old product but it did clean the paint somewhat. What am I doing wrong? Is there an easier way?

Re: Gritty Paint
I would consider looking at something like the TarX and IronX products.. different companies also make similar versions. I think Meguiars has a Paint Prep, but can be a bit harder to find.... But I would use those before claying, and usually before washing.
You also may need to check out a stronger clay product, or the newer rubber type products can be a bit stronger...2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

Would agree with Murr, especially if you have a very heavy build up of above surface rough feeling contaminants (which keep in mind typically cannot even be seen visually), an iron removing spray, used first, can help dramatically to cut down on clay time. Meguiar's offers our D2002 Iron Removing Spray Clay & our D1801 Wheel & Paint Iron Decon.

Also as Murr mentioned, depending on what clay bar you are using, Meguiar's C2100 Professional Mild Detailing Clay is a significant step up in aggressiveness compared to our mild Smooth Surface Clay Kit. We also have our C2100 Professional Aggressive Detailing Clay, which will works quick, it will commonly haze the paint where you would have to come back & machine polish.
