  • Hello from Michigan

Hey everyone, glad to be here! I've been acquainted with Meguiar's products for a few years now, but just really deep-diving into detailing over the last 6 months or so. Here are some pics of my 2012 BMW 535i in Jet Black... my go-to Meg's products are usually within the Ultimate line -- my favorites being UC, UP, ULW and of course UQW. Also recently picked up a bottle of Ultimate All Wheel cleaner (man that stuff goes fast!) and have been using Endurance tire dressing for years.

A couple questions for the experts: my car is covered in ULW and I use UQW as a drying aid. What effect would I see if I replaced Ultimate Quick Wax with Ultimate Quik Detailer? What if I used Hybrid Ceramic Wax or Hybrid Ceramic Detailer instead -- are they compatible with ULW? Thanks!

Welcome to Meguiar's Online! Thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself & share pictures of your car - nice ride. So to answer your first question, for a drying aid, for use during the drying process while the car is still a little wet after washing - we typically recommend staying with a spray wax, since they are going to most always offer more added protection, gloss, & water beading. Our Quik Detailer sprays are primarily intended & used for safe removal of light dust in-between your regular washes, as a mist & wipe type application. To answer your second question, the biggest difference between Ultimate & our Hybrid Ceramic, is our Hybrid Ceramic products are going to be longest lasting, more durable, better protection, and provide a higher level of water beading, which in turn, helps keep the car a bit cleaner believe it or not, and allows the vehicle to get clean during washing a bit easier, along with easier drying. That said, Hybrid Ceramic does focus mainly on protection. Strictly formulation speaking, our Ultimate Products ULW,UQD,UQW will have a higher ability to provide more gloss. Hybrid Ceramic still gives great gloss, but they do have less of a gloss formulation package if that makes sense. Yes you can use our Hybrid Ceramic Spray Wax or Hybrid Ceramic Detailer over Ultimate Wax.

Thanks Nick for answering my questions! I'll hit you with one more if you're up for it... are there any Meguiar's products which perform better in cold weather than others? I know it's tough to use pretty much anything below 50˚F, but just wondering if there are certain detailers and/or waxes that you have noticed performing decently in the cold. Would be very helpful information going into the winter! Thanks!
