  • polish & wax recommendations for Porsche single stage paint?

I have a Porsche 944 with single stage (Guards Red) paint. The paint is in very good condition given the car's age.
What Meguiar's products are recommended? I'm looking for a mild polish plus a wax/protectant coat(s). The car is garaged and is driven only 1 to 2K miles per year. Thanks.

Nice! My family used to own a 944 in red also. Are you working by hand or machine? Do you plan on determining if a clay bar is needed prior to using a mild polish? Let us know if you need help as this is something we would highly recommend if needed prior to using a mild polish.

If you are working by hand, we would recommend our M205 Ultra Finishing Polish. Compared to our Ultimate Polish, I think our M205 would be a better choice in this situation as it would give you just a bit more cleaning ability than our Ultimate Polish. If you are looking for the absolute least aggressive cleaner/polish, Ultimate Polish by hand would be the way to go.

If working by machine, i.e. D/A Polisher or Rotary, our M210 Ultra Pro Finishing Polish is our most advanced mild finishing polish. If looking for a bit more defect removal ability, opt for M205 by machine. Either would typically be applied with one of our Soft Buff Yellow Polishing Discs.

Wax protection is up to you. A good middle of the road for driving on weekends & solid protection + really great added gloss is our Ultimate Liquid Wax. For maximum protection in a liquid wax form, our Hybrid Ceramic Liquid Wax is the way to go. For maximum protection, our Hybrid Paint Coating is our latest & greatest.

Thanks for the guidance. I have some Meguiars Ultimate Polish on hand. Would it equivalent to your recommendation, to apply that by machine?

What kind of machine are you using?

I have been using Ultimate Liquid Wax since it was released, last summer bought and tried a bottle of M27. I am really enjoying M27 alot, nice deep gloss, beads water like crazy and seems to be lasting with washing/maintaining with the ceramic products, Wash & Wax, M799, and Ceramic Spray Wax (blue bottle). I was really on the fence with ULW and M27 but think I leaned into M27.... went and bought a gallon,

Ultimate Polish would fill what you are looking for as a mild polish but Ultimate Polish is very mild. Sometimes it does not provide enough defect removal ability. Since you have it, sure, test it out, see if it meets your expectations, if not M205 or M210 would be good picks.

As another alternative, I had excellent results on a '86 Carrera single stage paint with Meg's D166 Ultra Polishing Wax. This is a pretty potent product though. Careful dwelling on edges and corners with your machine.
