  • Rotarty Making swirl marks...

Hey guys i used the roatary buffer with show car glaze a gfew days ago now i notice buffer marks? How did this happen... i kno how to use the rotarty, not saying im great at it, but ive used it many times before with good results why this time did it swirl up on me?

Are you getting spiderweb type swirls, light micro-marring, or holograms? If it is either of the first two, the pad may not have been primed enough. If you are getting holograms you may have tilted the pad, not letting it ride completely flat along the surface. Did you experience any hopping?

      Hey,

Are you referring to #7 Show Car Glaze? If so, it is to be applied by hand, orbital, or DA Polisher...but not the rotary buffer. Products designed to be used by a rotary must have special lubricants added in order to handle the heat/friction provided by the rotary. This heat/friction can induce buffer holograms or swirls.

If you are wanting to use a glaze by rotary, Meguiar's #3 Machine Glaze is a pure polish like #7, but is designed to be used by machine.

did you make sure the pad was 100% clean? I know it sounds trivial to ask, but it has happened to me, and all I did was clean the pad, and redo the area that got swirled. However, gelcoats on boats are a little more forgiving to light scratches, seeing as they're white... but the painted sections show EVERYTHING.
