APC for pre treating Towels and MFs

I recently got my first gallon of APC . Something I have started doing with great results is to pre treat my towels and MFs as soon as I am finished with them.

I just give them a quick mist or 2 on each side. Just enough to convince myself I put something on them. If they have any stains to speak of I hit the stain with a little extra. In the back of my truck, in the trunk, I have a plastic trash can, full of holes. All the dirty towels go in there then after 2-3 days of accumulating I generally have enough for a washload. In the meantime the APC has worked on any nasty stuff.

I wash each load 2x. The first wash, without laundry detergent, and the second with woolite. I have been getting great results. Even my white Terry's don't even have a spot on them and I have some I have used for wiping my chrome wheels off with.

Thus far I have seen no issues with mold/mildew from doing this.

I've been using APC for those heavy spots on my MF too, and it does a great job. Just a quick shot on the towel before tossing them in the wash and the spot is gone.

By the way, my wife is totally impressed with APC. I've gotten out all sorts of stains from all sorts of things that wouldn't come out in the past, using various dilution levels. Even a couple of pet stains in our carpeting in the house are now gone - this stuff is amazing.

I use a Bissell Little Green Machine as a rinse/extractor using hot water only, and I spray APC onto an affected area, scrub, then use the LGM.

APC is just incredible stuff!

I just tried this and it really works well at taking grease off of the MF's. So many uses for APC. Thanks for the tip!

Have you found any benefit from using Woolite?

Well, I have to be honest here in that I can't compare Woolite to anything else when it comes to my detailing stuff. When I first got started someone recommended it and I ran out and bought it and have been using it ever since. They say Woolite makes your fabrics come out very soft. I agree.

The stuff is actually very clean after the wash with just the fabrics treated with APC. I think the Wollite just makes sure of this and soften things up a touch.

Doing it a little differently now.

Revitalizing an old thread here but I recently started doing this a little differently and notice a big improvement.

I used to spot treat my fabrics with the APC and then throw them in the dirty rag basket in the back of my truck. But, found I was going through quite a bit more of the than I cared for so thought I would try something a little different.

Now what I do is I keep one to of the 5 Gallon Grit Guard buckets in the back of my truck. The ones with the great screw top lids and rubber seals.

I fill this thing up about half way with water and then add some dawn. As I am working, if I have a heavily soiled rag I pre-treat the spots with APC then throw them on the bucket. As a general rule of thumb I can usually end up with a small load for the washing machine in 2-3 days. In the meantiime, My rags have been soaking and swirling around with the movement of my truck.

I simply dump the whole bucket, dawn and all, over into the washing machine, I wash it like that, then run it for a cycle using woolite, then one more time with with distilled vinegar.

I have Ulitmiate wipes that I have been using for months that look like I wash them with bleach but never have.

Thus far I have seen no issues with fabrics rotting or this approach causing any "immediate" negative results. Over the long haul I guess it is entirely possible that this will reduce the life expectancy of a few of my fabrics, but, for me, it is a little more important for my piece of mind knowing that they are clean now.

If I do notice any negative issues with this I'll try to remeber to bring this thread up again. I have been doing this for about 2 months know and am pretty comfortable with it.

I guess I should add that I recently invented the MF "POP-SICKLE" though. I left that bucket in the truck on a night that got a bit too cold. I had to bring it in the house and let it thaw out for a day in the bathtub.
