  • Turkey day calorie burner (daughters truck)

Had to burn off some of those Turkey dinner calories, so I polished the kids truck while she is home from college for the holiday...

Dorm parking lots are pretty harsh, and her truck has the scars to prove it. So I started out yesterday with some touch ups, today I wet sanded w/Unigrit Finishing Papers on all the touch-up spots...

    Detailed engine bay with Hyper-Dressing
    Washed and Clayed
    ScratchX on some scuff marks
    Compound w/rotary on wet-sand marks
Applied #9 Swirl Remover w/ rotary
Applied #21 Synthetic Sealant w/ rotary
Topped w/ #26 Hi Tech Yellow Wax by hand
    Tires w/ Gold Class Endurance
And all trim w/ Gold Class Trim Detailer

She has to do the interior herself...

Here's the engine bay before and after.

Here's one of the ScratchX spots. (the spot in the after is a reflection)

Here's two of the touch up spots. (the second one is from a different angle to get the sun)

    After the #21

#21 with and without the flash. ( I couldn't decide which looked better)
NOTE; I had to hold the bottle so it wouldn't slide off....

And topped with #26 (with and without the flash)

And a couple of overall shots out in the sun...

    Stats:
Total time to detail the truck = about 6 hours
Total time to construct this thread = over 1 hour
    My picture skills = ****
    My back = ouch
    Money earned = zero
I did receive a really nice hug from my daughter though...

And now she is going to take it back to hell...otherwise known as "The Dorm Parking Lot"...

        Looks great!

What a great dad you are! Mine would probably laugh at me, then tell me to do it myself and do his new Mustang while I was at it!

Then again, I'm a guy and I'm 22, so he has good reason.

Nothing says love like a freshly detailed car...

            Desertdawg,

I do the same thing for my family/kids. Can't have them driving around in a dirt/dull/marred/scratched mobile. Very nice job and that hug you received was worth any amount of $$$.

Aw gee shucks guys, thanks for the compliments...

Did anyone else notice the difference between the #21 and then topped with #26? In real life it was a pretty nice change, from a highly reflective look to a warmer, richer look...
