  • Fresh paint detail

Wow. Its been a while since ive been on here. Anyway i need a refresher on detailing/correcting new paint.

Had a new hood put on my 83 chevy c10 truck and had sone minor body repairs done as well - all of which required a respray.

Anyway im detailing the truck this week and doing a full 2 step correction on it getting ready for the goodguys heartland nationals car show in des moines this coming weekend.

What im looking for is a list of body shop safe products i can use on the paint. Will be correcting via m105/205. Looking for anything else id be safe to use on paint after 105/205

Welcome Back! M105 Ultra Cut Compound & M205 Ultra Finishing Polish are safe for fresh paint. If you wanted to try our latest & greatest, we now offer M110 Ultra Pro Speed Compound & M210 Ultra Pro Finishing Polish. I will link to more info below. Other than those two, you could check out our M305 Ultra Finishing Durable Glaze. It is essentially a breathable, silicone free protection for fresh paint. Will link to more info below also. Although it is safe to use a detail spray like our A3316 Quik Detailer Mist & Wipe, I typically use M34 Final Inspection for situations like these where you don't want any residue left behind. As far as general recommendations, it's very common for a re-spray to require a going over with a dedicated compound, to clean up the body shop's leftovers, so that sounds good to me. Other than what we've mentioned, just keep the panels as clean as you can & when they are cured, a coat of protection would be recommended.

I tell ya, i think the truck/ humidity is fighting me. Taking forever to get a good cut on a panel and still only seeing at best 60-70% correction. What a PITA. Lol

Using an adams polishes orange cutting pad with m105. May try a mehs soft buff 2.0 polishing pad as well.

Are there any dedicated glazes or some sort of protection i can apply to the truck prior to driving it 2 hours to the show and for protection during the weekend down there.

try megs m100. i switched from 105 to 100 with both a rotary and twisted wool and pc7424 and orange lake country depending on the job. m100 is awesome. no dusting like the 105 and results come quick

M305 is great to have for fresh paint. If you have time to get it then order it. It does a good job on fresh paint. You can use M7 but it won't leave any protection behind. It will be gone after a wash or two.

Also consider switching over to M110. Much better user experience than M105.

Thanks guys. Unfortunatly i leave for the show tomorrow. However its a goodguys show in des moines iowa. May be able to find 305 at the trailer and apply by hand at the hotel. Id also consider m7 as i wont have any access to wash truck traditionally, at best wash it rinseless/waterless.

And keep in mind, dont use any wax or sealant over the repsprayed area for atleast 3 months. If you do you'll lock the solvents to escape and your new paint will look ****.
