  • two problems

Hi All, first of all I have used Meguiars for years, few, if any, problems. I went to use a bottle or two of the spray detailer and noticed the spray had turned lumpy inside the bottle. Kind of looks like tapioca mixed in with cream. Both of these bottles are kept indoors year-round, no freezing and no overheating. First bottle was hard to work the spray nozzle so I removed it from the bottle so I could back-flush using the garden nozzle, did the same for the second bottle. No change, still hard to use. So, I grabbed a small Tupper-ware type container and dumped both bottles of detailer into the tub. Gooey and lumpy, like tapioca in cream. 2 years old? What would cause this? I used both bottles last fall and earlier in the spring, no problems. And yes, I often shake before using but this stuff will NOT remix.

Second problem: I have been using the Ultimate Black for all my darker gray plastic trim. It looks awesome! However, after a rain the door handle and just below the plastic mirrors, you can see where residue drips down the paint. My paint is black so it's easy to see. It's easily cleaned up by rewaxing those portions where the drip is. I am VERY cautious to watch where, and how, much Ultimate Black I apply to anywhere on my truck. Any suggestions as to how to get rid of the "residual drip"?
    Thanks

      Re: two problems

      Hi JerryJ,

Regarding the spray detailer, it does sound like something has happened & the product has spoiled. We don't hear of spray detailers turning gooey & lumpy very often, so what we would recommend is to contact our Solutions Hub at either 800-347-5700 or customercare@meguiars.com, explain the details, which exact product it is, they may collect batch codes, etc. We can then help get you replacements from there.

Regarding Ultimate Black Gel (G15812), for best results, this product is best applied to a clean & dry surface, and also applied at a time when there is going to be plenty of dry weather. Another tip is to apply as little as needed & with a soft foam applicator pad like our W0004. Other than that, different plastics can accept these style of conditioners better than others.

      Hope this helps!

I had something similar happen to a bottle of Ultimate QD. Inside the bottle a film seem to solidify and caused the intake straw to become clogged. Admittedly, the bottle had been kept in the garage where temps in the summer go up to 112 F.

Nick: I sent a response to your customercar@meguiars.com email address over a week ago, actually a couple of times and still have not heard anything back yet. BTW the product that went bad (as a I corrected in in the email) was the Ultimate Protectant, NOT the Ultimate Detailer as I originally mentioned, typo on my end.

It was CustomerCare@meguiars.com. The typo was only when I mentioned it here. Either stupid fingers or a stupid keyboard
