  • Cleaner Wax or Color X or Swirl X?

I have all three products but not sure during what steps these products should be used?
My guess is all three are used between claying and waxing(Nxt tech2.0 wax) steps. What are the differences and which one gives the best results?
And which product would you choose between Color X and Cleaner wax if you just want to remove swirls, add some shine and avoid playing with the paint coats?

If you want to remove some swirls, then you need to use SwirlX (and if that doesn't effect the level of paint correction you want, then move up to Ultimate Compound).

ColorX and Cleaner Wax are all-in-one products: they will remove contamination, staining, and old wax and leave behind a layer of protection. Use one or the other. If you have polished with SwirlX, then skip both ColorX and Cleaner Wax and move directly to NXT.

So when should I use ColorX/Cleaner Wax? Can I use it before washing my car if I want to apply a new fresh coat of wax? And which one is better between the two?

You would apply either ColorX or Cleaner Wax after you have washed your car. You can use it as a stand-alone protectant, or you can, if you wish, top it with NXT (or any other wax or sealant).

Cleaner Wax is very popular and a great value, but I believe that many on this forum believe that ColorX is the superior product. You can't go wrong with either, but if you need additional cleaning power, choose ColorX.

Think of it like doing a full deail, or doing a quick detail, that covers all the recomended steps:

          Full:
          1. Wash
          2. Clay as needed
          3. Clean - SwirlX, etc
          4. Polish - optional - DC2, etc
          4. Wax
          5. Wax - 2 thin coats are best

          Quick:
          1. Wash
          2. Clay as needed
          3. ColorX or Cleaner/Wax
          4. Wax - Acts as second thin coat.

What would additional cleaning power do to my paint? Coz my car's color is deep black with the pearl effect.

ColorX is still on the mild side of things overall, so it wont do a lot to the paint.

More to do with making sure dirt gets removed, etc. If you have a daily driver, left outside, a little extra cleaning ability cant hurt.

That was super quick Murr. Thank you..Oh yes I do need to park my car outside everyday during afternoons. So I guess ColorX would be the the best way to maintain and keep the paint clean. Any other suggestions?

Not really... I mean, if you get a few products on your shelf, you can pick and choose what you want to do. Nothing really right or wrong.

I did a hurried pre-winter detail in the parents garage before Thanksgiving, and just quickly clayed, SwirlXed the hood/roof/trunk as they were looking a bit dirtier. Then Colorx'd everything, and used Nxt 2.0. Came out good for a quick job.

So you must have obviously washed your car before claying right? Or is it okay to directly clay if the car is not dirty? However, this quick detailing sounds really good and would surely give it a try coz I usually follow the long 5 step detailing process which eats up my whole weekend sometimes. But I enjoy it

                      Well yes, washing also.

You really cant beat Wash, ColorX, Wax for speed.

I usually only clay my cars twice a year, spring and fall. When I intend to clay, I always wash the car beforehand. I want to remove as much dirt and grime before I touch the paint with the claybar.

One thing to remember: this is supposed to be fun!
